Hello Class of 1962, Friends, and Teachers,
MHSAA BLACK AND GOLD GALA AND CLASS OF 1962 60TH REUNION CELEBRATION
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, our Class of 1962 celebrated our 60th Reunion Anniversary at the Annual Mitchell High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) Black and Gold Gala. We had a grand time meeting and greeting each other. There were 24 people in attendance with 3 FULL TABLES! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE DONE THIS! HOW EXCITING! We missed you terribly and wished you could have joined us. But we stood in the “gap” for you and represented everyone who couldn’t be there for whatever reason! We love you!
SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
In 2017 at our ALL CLASS REUNION, I noticed that our Senior Composite picture for the Class of 1962 was missing on the Senior Composite Wall of Fame for graduating classes!!! So, I took it upon myself to work with Mr. William Suggs (Industrial Arts teacher) who said, “That’s what I do!” He volunteered his time to collect our individual photos and names, completed the 30” x 40” photo (as shown), and had it framed. He also made the inspirational “bookmarks” and 8x10 composite photos. I personally reimbursed him for the Senior Composite picture. On Saturday evening, 12/3/22, I presented it to Tyler Moore, President of the Mitchell High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) who offered to take it to the school with Board of Directors members (Rubin Campbell and Marvin Hill) who said they would go with Tyler to MHS and ensure that there was space and hang it on the Wall of Senior Composites with other classes. Below is a picture of Mr. William Suggs holding the framed picture that was unveiled on 12/3/22. Everyone applauded and cheered when they saw it!!!
CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION
Certificates of Appreciation from the MHSAA and the Class of 1962 were presented Tyler Moore, President to MHSAA Officers and MHSAA Board of Directors. He passed out the certificates to those members.
Certificates of Appreciation from the MHSAA and the Class of 1962 were presented to ten (10) classmates and Mr. Dorsey Franklin, Industrial Arts teacher (retired) by Dr. Carolyn J. Davis Jackson. An 8 x 10 copy of the Senior Composite, book marks, and a copy of the book that I published, “WHERE DID 60 YEARS GO?” were included inside the certificate folder.
Our Class of 1962 picture is among these photos and you can print copies, as you wish. From the left to the right are:
